Emily is a dedicated plaintiff-side employment attorney at Joseph & Norinsberg, LLC. Prior to
joining the firm, she worked as a Senior Litigation Legal Fellow at The Employment Law Group, where she participated in trial teams and managed all phases of case development, from
initial client counseling through trial preparation. Emily represents employees in workplace discrimination, retaliation, and civil rights matters. Her practice focuses on federal and state law discrimination, retaliation, and harassment claims, Section 1981 civil rights actions; Family and Medical Leave Act violations; and whistleblower protection cases. She has assisted in numerous trials, drafted pretrial motions and appellate briefs, responded to discovery, formulated witness testimony strategies, and assisted in mediations and settlement negotiations.
Ms. Tompkins received her law degree from The University of Missouri School of Law, where
she served as Associate Editor in Chief of the Journal of Dispute Resolution and was a student
advocate in both the Entrepreneurship Legal Clinic and the Child and Family Justice Clinic. She received her bachelor’s degree in political science and philosophy from the University of
Rochester.
